✅ Extracted Files

🔒 100% Private: Your PDF is processed entirely in your browser using PDF-Lib. Nothing is uploaded to any server. All extracted files are created locally on your device.

A professor has a 300-page course textbook in PDF format and needs to share just pages 45 through 78 with students for a weekly reading assignment. Sending the full document is not practical. A legal assistant needs to separate a merged case file into individual exhibit PDFs, each a different page range. A developer has a double-sided document scanned into a single PDF and needs every odd page extracted as a clean set of front-side images.

All three need the same operation: take pages out of a PDF and produce a usable file from those specific pages. This tool handles all three scenarios in a single interface, entirely in the browser. Your PDF is processed locally using PDF-Lib. Nothing is uploaded to any server.

How It Works

  1. Upload your PDF by dragging it onto the upload area or clicking to browse. The tool reads the document and loads the page structure locally. The page count displays immediately once the file is ready.
  2. Choose an extraction method and configure your selection from three options. Pick Pages gives you a visual list of every page with All, None, Odd, and Even quick-select toggles. Click individual pages to add or remove them from the selection. Page Range lets you type range notation directly: examples include "1-5" for a continuous block, "1,3,5" for non-consecutive pages, "1-3,7-9" for two separate ranges, and "2-5,8,10-12" for a complex multi-range selection. Each comma-separated range in Page Range mode produces its own separate output file. Every N Pages extracts recurring page groups at a set interval, useful for splitting long documents into equal-sized chunks. Then choose the output format: Single merged PDF combines all selected pages into one file, or Separate files produces individual PDFs packaged in a ZIP. Pick a naming convention from three filename formats for the output files.
  3. Extract and download by clicking Extract Pages. PDF-Lib copies the selected page data into new PDF documents locally. Download a single file directly, or use Download All as ZIP to collect all separate output files in one archive.

Compatibility & Support

Supported Input → Output Formats

  • Input: Any standard PDF (text-based or scanned, any page count)
  • Output: One or more PDF files containing the extracted pages
  • Extraction modes: Pick Pages (visual selection), Page Range (range notation), Every N Pages (interval-based)
  • Output packaging: Single merged PDF, or separate PDF files in a ZIP archive
  • Naming options: Range-based (filename_p1-5.pdf), part-numbered (filename_part1.pdf), zero-padded (filename_001.pdf)

Unsupported Formats

Only PDF files can be used as input. Images, Word documents, and other file types cannot be processed directly. Password-protected PDFs that restrict content access or page extraction cannot be processed until those restrictions are removed.

File Size Limits

All processing runs in-browser via PDF-Lib, so no server-imposed file size cap applies. Very large PDFs with many pages may take a moment to load and parse, but extraction completes fully on modern browsers without any external restriction.

Who Should Use This Tool?

  • Students: A student who has downloaded a full academic textbook PDF and only needs specific chapters for a project can extract just those pages into a compact file that is easier to annotate and share without distributing the entire document.
  • Freelancers & Designers: A freelance copywriter who receives a 100-page client brief as a single PDF can extract the four pages relevant to their specific deliverable and send only that section for review, keeping confidential sections out of the shared file.
  • Office Professionals: A legal team that receives a merged PDF of client exhibits can use Page Range mode with comma-separated notation to split the document into individually named exhibit files in a single extraction pass, rather than running the tool once per exhibit.
  • Developers: A developer processing double-sided scans of physical forms can use the Odd Pages toggle to extract all front sides at once, then re-run with Even Pages to get all back sides, producing two clean sets of pages ready for further processing.

Key Features

Here's what separates this tool from generic alternatives:

🔒

No Server Upload

PDF-Lib processes the file entirely in your browser. Confidential contracts, legal case files, and proprietary documents never transfer to any external server during the extraction.

📋

Three Extraction Methods

Pick Pages for visual selection, Page Range for typed notation, and Every N Pages for interval-based splitting. Each method covers a different use case, and all three are available without switching tools.

Odd and Even Page Toggles

One-click Odd and Even selection handles double-sided document scans instantly. Extracting front and back sides of scanned sheets is a single click rather than manually picking every other page.

📦

Multi-Range ZIP Output

In Page Range mode, each comma-separated range produces its own PDF file. Use "1-10,11-20,21-30" to split a document into three files in one operation. All output files download together in a ZIP archive.

🏷️

Three Naming Conventions

Choose range-based names (filename_p1-5.pdf), sequential part names (filename_part1.pdf), or zero-padded numbering (filename_001.pdf) for the output files, matching whatever naming structure your workflow needs.

🔢

Every N Pages Interval Mode

Set a page interval to split long documents into equal-sized chunks automatically. Useful for dividing a quarterly report into monthly sections or splitting a training manual into modules of a fixed page count.

Why This Tool Beats the Alternatives

  • No account, email, or signup required at any point.
  • No watermarks added to extracted output PDFs.
  • No server upload; confidential documents stay on your device throughout extraction.
  • Three extraction methods covering visual selection, range notation, and interval-based splitting in a single tool.
  • Multi-range comma notation produces multiple separate PDFs in one operation, saving time compared to running extraction once per section.
  • No daily limits or paid tier required to extract from large files.

Pro Tips

  • For complex document splitting, use Page Range mode with comma-separated notation to define all your sections at once. A contract with a cover page, terms section, and appendix could be split as "1,2-15,16-30" in a single extraction pass, producing three separately named PDFs packaged into one ZIP download.
  • If you need to share a section of a large confidential PDF without exposing the rest of the document, extract only the relevant pages first and send the output file rather than the original. This is faster than manually redacting or deleting pages from a copy of the full document.
  • For double-sided document scans where all pages are in one file, run extraction twice: once with the Odd Pages toggle to collect front sides, then reload the same file and use Even Pages to collect back sides. This produces two clean ordered sets ready for further processing, filing, or combining in the correct order.

Upload your PDF, choose your extraction method, and download your pages as a single file or packaged ZIP in seconds. If you need to combine the extracted pages with additional PDFs afterward, the Merge PDF Files tool handles that next step in the same browser-based workflow.
