HEIC to JPG

Convert iPhone HEIC photos to JPG or PNG on any computer — no codec install, no upload, full resolution kept.

Runs in your browser. Files and text you add here are processed on your own device with JavaScript and are not uploaded to our server. Some tools download a free open-source library (for example PDF.js or QPDF) from a public CDN the first time you use them. Very large files depend on your device's memory.

iPhones save photos as HEIC by default. They look great on the phone, but try uploading them to a university portal, a visa application site or an older Windows PC and you hit “unsupported file type”. It's one of the most asked questions on r/iphone and r/techsupport.

This converter turns HEIC and HEIF photos into JPG (or PNG) right in your browser. It uses a WebAssembly build of the libheif decoder, so it works on Windows, Android and Chromebooks that have no HEIC codec installed — and your photos are never uploaded.

Batch conversion is built in: AirDrop or copy a whole album to your computer, drop the files here, and download one ZIP full of JPGs.

HEIC itself is a good format — it stores the same visual quality as JPEG in roughly half the space — so there is no need to stop using it on the phone. The problem is only compatibility on the receiving end, and converting at the moment you share is the least disruptive fix.

How It Works

  1. Add HEIC/HEIF photos — up to 30 at a time. The tool checks the file extension and type before starting.
  2. Decode with libheif — a WebAssembly HEIC decoder (heic2any) loads on demand and decodes the HEVC-compressed image into pixels inside your browser tab.
  3. Encode to JPG or PNG — pick JPG for small, universally accepted files or PNG for lossless copies, set the quality, and download singly or as a ZIP.

Compatibility & Support

Supported Input → Output Formats

  • Input: .heic and .heif photos from iPhone, iPad and some Samsung and Huawei phones
  • Output: .jpg (40–100% quality) or .png
  • Resolution: full camera resolution is kept (e.g. 4032 × 3024 for a 12 MP iPhone photo)

Unsupported Formats

Live Photos are converted as a still image; the short video part (a separate .mov file) is not included. Burst sequences and depth maps inside HEIC containers are ignored — only the primary image is converted.

EXIF metadata such as date taken and GPS location is not copied into the JPG. That is a privacy plus for sharing, but it means gallery apps will sort converted photos by file date. For HEIC straight to a document, use HEIC to PDF.

File Size Limits

Up to 30 photos per batch and 60 MB per file. HEIC decoding is heavier than JPEG decoding, so large batches take a few seconds per photo on phones and older laptops.

Who Should Use This Tool?

  • Students: A student uploading photographed assignment pages to Google Classroom converts the iPhone HEIC files to JPG so the teacher can open them on any device.
  • Freelancers & Designers: A photographer shooting behind-the-scenes images on an iPhone converts them to JPG before sending them to a client on Windows.
  • Office Professionals: An HR officer receiving passport-size photos from staff as HEIC converts them to JPG for the ID-card system that only accepts JPEG.
  • Developers: A developer testing an image-upload form generates JPG versions of HEIC fixtures to compare server-side handling.

Key Features / Khusoosiyat

Here's what separates this tool from generic alternatives:

📱

iPhone Photos Fixed

Converts the HEIC/HEIF format used by iOS since iOS 11.

🧠

No Codec Needed

The decoder runs as WebAssembly — nothing to install on Windows or Android.

🔒

Photos Stay Private

Personal pictures are decoded locally and never uploaded.

📦

Album Batches

Convert up to 30 photos and download them together as a ZIP.

🔀

JPG or PNG

Choose compact JPG or lossless PNG output.

📏

Full Resolution

No downscaling — you keep every pixel the camera captured.

Why This Tool Beats the Alternatives

  • Your personal photos are not uploaded to a remote server, unlike many HEIC converters.
  • No need to buy the HEVC Video Extension from the Microsoft Store just to view or convert files.
  • Batch conversion with ZIP download is free.
  • No watermark and no reduced-resolution “free tier”.
  • Honest about Live Photos and metadata instead of silently dropping them.

Pro Tips

  • To stop your iPhone creating HEIC in future, go to Settings → Camera → Formats → Most Compatible. New photos will be saved as JPG.
  • When emailing from an iPhone, iOS often converts HEIC to JPG automatically — but AirDrop and USB transfers keep the original HEIC.
  • For printing, choose 95% JPG quality or PNG; for WhatsApp or email, 80–85% is plenty.

Drop your iPhone HEIC photos above and download JPGs that open on any device.
